Privacy Policy for calculator.solar
Effective date: November 1, 2026
1. Who is responsible
This policy covers calculator.solar ("we"). For any privacy question or request, use our contact form.
2. What we collect
- The address and roof location you search for, your panel layout, and your energy bill and rate.
- If you request a quote: your name, email address and phone number.
- A record of your consent: its wording, version, language and date.
- If you use the contact form: your name, email address and message.
- Usage data: the pages and calculator steps you reach, your browser and device type, the site you came from, and your IP address as received by Google Analytics.
3. Why we use it
- To calculate your solar estimate, which you can see without giving contact details. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
- To share or sell your quote request to one installer, if you tick the consent box. Legal basis: your consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
- To be able to demonstrate your consent. Legal basis: our legal obligation under Article 7(1) GDPR, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
- To answer your message. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in replying to you, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- To see how the calculator is used and where people leave it, so we can improve it. Legal basis: our legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this runs without analytics cookies. Elsewhere Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_*.
4. Who receives your quote request
We share or sell your name, email address, phone number, roof location and quote details to one solar installer near you, who pays us for this. The installer will call or email you about your quote and becomes responsible for the data it receives, under its own privacy policy.
Without your consent we do not send your request to an installer. You will still have seen your estimate.
5. Service providers
We use providers that process data on our behalf: Google Cloud Platform for hosting and storage, Google Maps Platform for maps and address search, Google Analytics for usage statistics, and Twilio SendGrid for email. Some of them may process data outside the EU under appropriate safeguards.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your consent record for 12 months after you give or withdraw consent, to be able to demonstrate it.
7. Withdrawing consent
You can withdraw at any time using the consent withdrawal form, or through our contact form. Withdrawal does not affect sharing that took place before it. We will stop sharing your details and tell the installer who received them.
8. Your rights
You may ask for access to your data, and for its correction, erasure, restriction or portability, and you may object to its processing. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
9. Changes
We publish any change to this policy on this page with a new effective date.
